Every student of Hanafi jurisprudence notices the frequent mention of the name of the scholar and jurist Amir Katib al-Atqani (d. 758 AH). His massive and valuable book, “Ghayat al-Bayan Nadirat al-Zaman fi Akhir al-Awan fi Sharh al-Hidayah,” appears in many books of the Hanafi school, sometimes under the author’s name in various forms such as: “Al-Atqani said,” or “Amir Katib said,” or “Qawam al-Din said,” or “Al-Utrari said,” and it is often misspelled as “Al-Atrazi”!

Sometimes, in the name of his book, he uses different colors as well: such as: He said in “Sharh al-Hidayah” or “He said in al-Ghayah” or “He said in Ghayat al-Bayan”.

This indicates the importance of this book and its author, and it was the mainstay of some of the major works in “Sharh al-Hidaya” and others.

There is no doubt that: “The Ultimate Explanation in Explaining Al-Hidayah” is one of the most precious, longest, most sublime, and most beneficial explanations of “Al-Hidayah/by Al-Marghinani”. It has been praised by many prominent scholars and historians, whether from the Hanafi school of thought or others.

Whoever examines the book and delves into its depths will realize that it is not a doctrinal book specific to Hanafi jurisprudence alone, but rather it is in fact a comprehensive jurisprudential encyclopedia of the doctrines of many jurists, including the four imams and others.
