Sahih Muslim is one of the most important books of Hadith for Sunni Muslims, considered the third most authentic book after the Quran and Sahih al-Bukhari. It is one of the comprehensive collections of Hadith, encompassing all topics including beliefs, rulings, etiquette, exegesis, history, virtues, and matters of the heart. It was compiled by Abu al-Husayn Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj al-Qushayri al-Naysaburi, who aimed to include only authentic Hadiths agreed upon by scholars and Hadith experts. He limited himself to narrating directly attributed Hadiths (marfu') and avoided narrating suspended or incomplete Hadiths (mu'allaq), as well as the opinions and legal rulings of scholars, except in rare cases. He spent approximately fifteen years compiling and classifying it, gathering over three thousand Hadiths (excluding repetitions), which he selected from three hundred thousand Hadiths he had memorized.
