Rebellion is part of the fabric of the human being. We rebel against many things in life: injustice, cruelty, oppression, poverty, suffering, deprivation, slavery, chaos, weakness, etc. However, the rebellion we mean here is broader and deeper than all of the above. It is existential rebellion, that is, rebellion against the human condition in this existence. We exist within a world in which we are presented with many facts over which we have no will or choice. We were born at a specific historical moment, into a specific society, and into a specific culture. And there are others whom I have never known and who have never known me who have long ago formulated decisions and laws that today control my freedom and destiny, even the most minute details of my life.
