The Path of the Seekers and the Reliance of the Muftis is a book that is one of the works of Imam al-Nawawi. It is the mainstay for the muftis and the destination for those seeking fatwas on the Shafi’i school of thought. This is due to the strength of its expression, the abundance of its material, and the completeness of its benefit. Its author relied in extracting its material on the reliable source, as he said: “Our companions, may God have mercy on them, have written extensively on the topics of the detailed and the abridgments, and the most perfect abridgment of ‘al-Muharrar’ by Imam Abu al-Qasim al-Rafi’i, the one with the investigations, is very beneficial and a mainstay in verifying the school of thought, a reliable source for the mufti and others, and it is among the most desirable.” Then he said: “So I saw fit to abridge it to about half its size, so that it would be easier to memorize, along with what I will add to it, God willing, of the precious and newly acquired items.”
