There is no god but Allah. Some destinies are arranged according to causes, and destinies and causes struggle against each other. He says: The most prudent of people is he who repels destiny with destiny. All matters, religious and ordinary, are all subject to struggle. The measure of hunger is repelled by the measure of food, eating, thirst, and sickness are all subject to struggle. The repeller and the repelled are all predestined. So let us come and reflect: Nothing repels destiny except supplication; what is meant is not the inevitable destiny. The destiny that Allah foreknows will happen: nothing can repel it. Is it known? Is it apparent? Have you heard, brothers?

The destiny that Allah knew would inevitably happen: nothing can repel it. There is... meaning there are no reasons to repel it. It has no reasons. So the destiny that is repelled by supplication is the arranged destiny that Allah has made reasons to repel, including supplication. So the most effective reason for repelling something disliked, for example, what? Supplication. This glorifies the importance of supplication and its effect in repelling what is predestined.

Fate is of two types: Fate means that Allah has decreed that it must happen, and He knows that it must happen. Nothing can avert this, whether supplication or otherwise. Another type of fate is one that is conditional upon the absence of causes to avert it. This type of fate has causes, and the most effective means of averting it is supplication. Supplication is an example of limitation, or it can be used to indicate the virtue of supplication in averting fate.
