In his book, the author discussed will and knowledge, making them the key to everything beneficial in life and a tool that opens the door to happiness, reveals the greatness of the Creator and the beauty of His creation, and points to the path of truth and goodness. Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah expounded on happiness through knowledge and will, and on the wisdom in the creation of man, the universe, planets, stars, sky, and earth, and on people's need for the Sharia. He also discussed optimism and pessimism, omens and contagion and their types, clarifying the correct ruling on these matters from the Holy Quran and the Prophet's Sunnah, demonstrating people's need for the Sharia, and again addressing optimism and pessimism, omens and contagion and their types, refuting the claims of astrologers and exposing the delusions of those who rely on horoscopes for knowledge of the unseen.
