Dostoevsky is now twenty-four years old, and he wrote it, and he alone, with the burning fire of his passion and his blazing tears. The harshest humiliation that a human being can be subjected to, which is poverty, inspired it to him, supported by the greatest power in this world, I mean the love of those who suffer. The circumstances in which Dostoevsky wrote this novel are completely different from any other novel, as he began writing it while in prison, and it is one of his first novels. Critics consider it a description of the human conditions that Dostoevsky experienced inside prison. Therefore, we can consider it a collection of pages that talk about the human soul and how it is affected by the surrounding circumstances. Throughout his novel, the writer deals with a large number of types of people who differ from each other in the nature of life and social level, as well as the aspirations of each of them and the reason for being behind these bars.
