His companions, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, are like the sun whose light and rays reach all corners of the world. The great Indian scholar Kandahlawi, may Allah have mercy on him, realized with his keen insight and saturated faith that if faith and certainty are to be established in the heart of a Muslim, then he must study the biography of the Master of Creation and learn about the stories and circumstances of the companions, may Allah be pleased with them. So, may Allah have mercy on him, he took the initiative and wrote his beneficial book: The Lives of the Companions.

\nHis intention was not to compose a new book on biographies, as the Arabic library is full of short and long books. Rather, his intention was to stand on the prophetic method in building the human being, so he tried to get to know it, and traced that in every element of this building, so he arranged his book into chapters that narrate their lives, behavior and emotions. \n \nAllama Kandahlawi did not compose his book only with the aim of getting to know the lives of the Companions, but he also aimed in composing this book for this book to be a reference and constitution for every preacher and missionary, who would read it, embody it and fill his heart with it. \n \nThe author was blessed with happiness in this book, and his book was accepted, so it was one of the precious books, it spread widely in the horizons, and people raced to acquire it and benefit from its information from the first time it was published. This book has collected news, biographies, stories, and tales of the Companions, may God be pleased with them, that are rarely found in one book, because it has been taken from many books, such as books of Hadith, Musnads, history books, and books of classes. Therefore, the book came to depict that era and represent the lives of the Companions, their characteristics, morals, and thoughts, so it was a true scientific encyclopedia.
