In the name of God, the most gracious, the most merciful

Praise be to Allah, the One and Only in Dominion and Eternity, in Honor and Majesty. None can delay what He has brought forward, nor advance what He has delayed. He is the Farthest and the Nearest, the Richest and the Most Sufficient. The thunder and the trees, the sun and the moon, glorify Him with praise. He is exalted above rivals, sanctified above imperfections and opposites, and transcendent above having a companion or children. He has determined the measures and implemented them according to the most correct system. He created the heavens and the earth and perfected them with the best perfection. He set up landmarks for His knowledge. He raised the status of His saints above all other creatures, and He is the most deserving of abundant favors. So blessed is the name of my Lord, the Possessor of Majesty and Honor.

And I send prayers and peace upon the chosen Prophet and the chosen Messenger, prayers and peace that are everlasting as long as the kingdom of God is everlasting, and may God be pleased with the pure Companions, the chosen and good ones, from the Muhajireen and the Ansar, and those who followed them and those who followed them until the Day of Judgement. So this is a book explaining the Necklace of Pearls in the System of the Elite of Thought in the Terminology of the People of the Tradition.

By Imam Abu Hamid Muhammad al-Arabi ibn Yusuf al-Fasi al-Fahri, who died in 1052 AH. In it, he explained his rajaz poem “Aqd al-Durar,” which is a verse of “Nukhbat al-Fikr” by Imam al-Hafiz Abu ibn Ali ibn Hajar al-Kinani al-Asqalani al-Shafi’i, who died in 852 AH. This is the blessed text that was and still is the focus of scholars’ attention, in terms of explanation and annotation.
