Badr Al-Rifai lived a busy life in Egypt, most of the details he tells about it have disappeared now, so his biography came
An enjoyable documentation and recreation of a bygone era and people who have vanished. Badr Al-Rifai was born in the year of the Nakba (1948) as a communist child. His father was a professional communist who worked secretly, was always wanted by the police, and disappeared most of the time. His mother came from a modest family, worked in a textile factory, and was active among the workers.
Through his fascinating biography and memoirs, we learn about life in rural Egypt in the 1950s, where Badr Al-Rifai spent his early years with his father's family. We also learn about his life in Shubra during his childhood and youth, his practice of journalism while studying journalism at Cairo University, his work in literacy, his military service in the early 1970s, his political and union activism, his work as a technical secretary at Dar Al-Fata Al-Arabi, and his translation of important books that greatly contributed to the Arabic library.
Badr Al-Rifai also tells us about his friends, icons of journalism, literature, and art from the 1970s and 1980s, bringing to life a wonderful country that no longer exists.
