Novelist Dina Shehata transports us to a different spatial space than we have experienced in her previous works, finding ourselves in the historic city of Jeddah. She presents us with the story of Aseel, who is trying to escape from his alienation, solving its puzzle, only to find himself in front of the old house. He feels his way there, listening to what is happening within its walls, searching for his lost identity and the history of a family spanning ten generations under the shade of the neem tree that narrates the story.
It's a novel about family, identity, and the places that never leave our souls no matter how long it takes.
