The poem “Introduction to What the Qur’an Reader Must Know” by the reciter and authority on Qur’anic recitation, Abu al-Khayr Muhammad ibn al-Jazari, was presented to the people of the Qur’an in an abridged and corrected form, reflecting the texts approved by our imams. The editor consulted several of his manuscripts, in addition to a number of written and manuscript commentaries on the poem, to correct the text. It contains most of the essential science of Tajweed, with elegant composition, precise diction, and beautiful style. God has blessed it with acceptance among people throughout the ages, from the time of its author to our present day. This poem was edited, verified, and annotated by Dr. Ayman Rushdi Suwaid (may God preserve him).
