Healing the Sick in Matters of Fate, Destiny, Wisdom and Reasoning, 2 Volumes

Shifa’ al-‘Alīl fi Masā’il al-Qadā’ wa’l-Qadar wa’l-Hikmah wa’l-Ta’līl is a book on Islamic doctrine, written by Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya (691-751 AH – 1292-1349 AH). The book deals with one of the most important and dangerous issues of doctrine and the fundamentals of religion, which is the issue of belief in divine destiny and predestination. In his book, the author explains the approach of Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jama‘ah on this issue, supporting his opinion with evidence from the Holy Quran, the Prophet’s Sunnah, and the sayings of the righteous predecessors, the Companions and the Followers. Then, he responds to those who disagree with them, explaining their statements and the absurdity of their minds. Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya devoted two complete chapters in his book, one to responding to the Jabrīyah and the second to responding to the Qadārīyah, in addition to responding to them and others in other chapters of his book.
