Thus ends my narrative, which I intended to be a testimony to a turbulent period between the two enemies, through my own journey. Rudies' voice still echoes within me: "One day we will no longer be of this world, and someone will have to bear witness for us." And he was right. I undertook this testimony to understand the gulf separating the two enemies. How can we understand this raging war that poisons human relations and endangers the exchange of ideas and things unless we take into account the tragedy that has befallen us? How great would Spain be if it one day took back its children, embraced them in its arms, caressed them and patted them? Then all the pain we have suffered would disappear as the sun dispels the clouds. Every morning, after the dawn prayer, I spread a rug on the roof of the house and watch the light slowly break from the east, while I fiddle with my prayer beads and repeat the verse of the grammarian Walid Touzur, from his famous poem, Al-Munfaraj: Intensify your crisis and you will be relieved, for your night has given permission for dawn.
