The writer Haifa Safouq presents the characters of her novel within the questions of her time and place. The Last Sunset is an existential question searching for answers in the ambiguity of meaning, as she was able to present the hero of her novel, Wahid, the creative visual artist, in a dialogue through urgent, curious questions that seek light in an exciting narrative manner that draws attention to the content of the question and answer through the stages of the hero's development, starting from his early, questioning childhood to the stage of maturity and awareness of the creative person who emerged in his human and creative personality that attempts to get rid of materialism and enter into a conscious, insightful depth. The human relationships between the characters of her novel, such as the love between Wahid and Jude, the provoking of questions and mysterious stories between Wahid and the old woman, the friendship between Wahid and Jaber, and the loyalty between Jude and Mona, reveal the depth of these relationships, despite their differences, and highlight the complementary relationship between them. There are no coincidences in her novel. Her heroes live the moment, the moment of life in the space of the scene that expresses the writer's individual awareness and responsibility towards societal awareness, and the hopes, ambitions, and major issues that inhabit it.
