Biography of Amir al-Mu'minin Omar ibn al-Khattab
Author: Jamal al-Din Abi al-Faraj Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Jawzi
Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz (61-101 AH) was the eighth Umayyad Caliph, and scholars refer to him as the "fifth Rightly Guided Caliph" due to his justice and asceticism. He ruled for approximately two and a half years (99-101 AH), during which he restored rights, spread justice, and compiled the Prophetic Hadith. He was known for his piety, devoutness, comprehensive administrative and financial reforms, and died poisoned in Ma'arrat al-Nu'man.
