Throughout our consulting career in both the public and private sectors, we've had the opportunity to work alongside a number of executives. Some of them exercised their leadership roles with passion and love, captivating their teams, while others acted blindly, frustrating everyone they worked with. With this introduction, we began our conversation with our friend "John," who has spent 35 years working with leaders in major public and private organizations across three continents, each with different cultures, languages, customs, and even climates. The conversation was inspiring and motivated us to move quickly to document what we see as the foundation of leadership. We believe that leaders are made, and this is confirmed by experts. We were excited to lay the foundations of this book, which, in our view, is the "rules of the game," as the adults like to call them.
