In Earth Revolution, we follow Saramago's footsteps and enter, in light of his ferocity in the pursuit of justice, his anger at injustice, and his boundless pain from poverty, the village of Lafre, through which he explores the history of Portugal and the most important events it experienced, including the "Carnation Revolution" that broke out in 1974. Earth Revolution was published in 1980 and caused strong repercussions in cultural circles. It was itself a narrative revolution at the time and contained the first signs of "Saramagian" writing: starting from a clear idea of his vision of the world, the microscopic analysis of his characters, the precise architecture of his novels, the sarcastic and noble style at the same time, the poetic language - these signs that were clearly evident later in his subsequent works and gave him a special place in world literature.
