Beyond Good and Evil

The book was first published in 1886. It builds on the ideas of his earlier book, Thus Spoke Zarathustra, and expands upon them, approaching them from a more critical and polemical perspective. Nietzsche completed the book in the winter of 1885-1886 and sent it to the Krinder publishing house in Leipzig, where it was rejected. He then sent it to Karl Duncker's publishing house in Berlin, where it was also rejected. Nietzsche then published it at his own expense with the Naumann publishing house in Leipzig. In the first ten months after its publication, only 114 copies were sold. In the book, Nietzsche attacks the philosophers of the past, accusing them of a lack of critical awareness and blind acceptance of Christian moral assumptions. In his work, he moves beyond good and evil, transcending traditional ethics and criticizing them with subversive criticism.
