This book traces the most important ideas in the largest and most influential parts of the long historical journey of philosophy. Here, the reader will find the earliest philosophical thinkers of the West, the ancient Greek and Roman philosophers, to whom philosophy owes a great debt. The reader will see how their concerns made the concerns of their descendants laugh; how their answers shaped what we call "the gibberish" today. We will not, of course, overlook medieval philosophy, which in turn brought the same ancient concerns to the Renaissance, adding its own religious flavor. The book also carefully covers modern thought, the modern explosion of philosophy that began with Descartes. The book also touches on the founders and representatives of skepticism and empiricism, as well as their teachings.
