Culture in the Time of the Pandemic

What happened to culture during the pandemic years? And how did the pandemic affect literary and intellectual works?

The articles in this book answer these questions from two perspectives. First, articles that directly address COVID-19, referencing works written during the pandemic and other pandemics, or that outlined their features and effects.

The second: articles that address intellectual, literary, and artistic issues, some of which are related to the pandemic, but which generally confirm the resistance of cultural life to calamities and the continuation of human thought and creativity despite pandemics.

These are translated articles that were published in languages ​​other than Arabic between 2020 and 2022 in a large number of magazines and newspapers extending from India to America and from Europe to Africa. The articles, with their various forms, represent a form of translation that is not common in the Arab world, as they introduce the reader to the global cultural scene in a way that translated books do not. They are a vivid picture of cultural production as it pulsates through periodical publications that are not available to many readers.
