"Dying was never fun... but at least it's a way to live. Expendable: A human clone used for the dangerous tasks involved in space exploration missions. The Expendable's personality and memories may be transferred, complete and untouched, to a new body if the current host perishes. Mikey Barnes is an Expendable, now on the cusp of his seventh incarnation, living and dying among his fellow colonists on the nearly uninhabitable ice planet of Niflheim. Seen by some as immortal, by others as a soulless freak. For the past nine years, he has been thrown into dangerous missions and subjected to experiments that test the limits of human endurance, his humanity sacrificed for the greater good. During one of his reconnaissance missions, Mikey7 is injured and left for dead, only to be rescued by the natives of Niflheim. Upon returning to base, Mikey7 meets his next incarnation, Mikey8. But if anyone discovers the existence of multiple versions of Mikey, both will be executed, and Mickey9 was destined to never see the light of day. Now, the survival of both worlds, old and new, depends on Mickey7. That is, if he can only survive eternal death.
