The science of rhetoric sits at the top of the Arabic sciences; through it the miraculous nature of the Holy Quran is known, and through it the fruit of discourse and the meanings of structures are known. This is the reason for the attention paid by previous scholars to it in the fields of criticism, poetry, interpretation and other fields. This study, entitled (Time in Arabic Rhetoric), aimed to highlight the element of time in Arabic rhetoric in its three sciences: semantics, rhetoric and rhetoric. The importance of the research comes from the fact that it brings together everything related to time in Arabic rhetoric in a single theory that reveals the secrets of this time and its rhetorical meanings, after this time had been scattered in the discussions of rhetoricians' books. The researcher followed the inductive approach, where he traced the rhetorical phenomena related to time and collected them. Then he followed the descriptive-analytical approach in describing the rhetorical phenomenon, analyzing it and citing it. Then the research reached the results, where it appeared that the element of time is an authentic element in Arabic rhetoric, as it is related to its rules, images and rhetoric. The research mentioned the definition of the term morphological time, which is in the single word, grammatical time, which is in the structure, and rhetorical time, which is in the rhetorical joke known in the context of the structure. Time was related to ten rules of semantics, which are: taking into account the requirements of the situation, the purposes of the predicate being a noun or a verb, shifting between the past, present, and future, restriction to time, and the conditional tools (if and if), as rhetorical time is related to the command and wish, the question, the coordination conjunction, and the relation of the verb to its time in the mental metaphor, brevity and prolixity. The research showed the rhetorical conditions that result from the presentation and delay, definition and indefiniteness, mention and deletion, disclosure, and implication in the temporal single, and among the results also: the artistic image expressed time; it transferred it from the abstract meaning to the tangible; There are many examples of similes in their various forms, metaphors in their various forms, metonymy, and metonymy in this field. The language used the temporal word in various types of rhetorical devices, both semantic and verbal. Among the semantic types are: antithesis in its various forms, contrast, inversion, substitution, usage, exaggeration, abstraction, twisting and spreading, enclosure, division, and collection. Among the verbal types are: paronomasia, rhyme, and the Qur’anic comma.
The study recommended continuing research into the element of time in Arabic rhetoric and comparing it with modern linguistic studies.
