This collection of short stories is considered one of Naguib Mahfouz's most important short stories, encompassing three stories that encompass many of the tales and characters Mahfouz experienced and witnessed firsthand. The events of the three stories each move in a different direction, yet intersect at numerous points, forming an interconnected fabric that brings the stories together in a shared world. Mahfouz revisits the memories of the neighborhood where he grew up, then of Abbasiya, where he moved when he was still a boy under the age of twelve. Mahfouz's stories are filled with the scent of the past and nostalgia for memories, reflecting the essence of his world, its characters, and the places that shaped his imagination, as well as the general events that preoccupied him since the 1919 Revolution, the Free Officers Movement, the Naksa, and the economic opening.

You may return most new, unopened items within 14 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).
You should expect to receive your refund within two weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (2 to 4 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (1 to 2 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (2 to 4 business days).
