For deviant methodologies act as a veil that separates their adherents from the truth. And their Creator and Maker, to the extent that they were entangled in error. Among the things for which the scholar Ibn al-Qayyim, may God have mercy on him, is commended is that he established many principles, making them a criterion for truth in this matter, a refutation of the falsehood that had become entangled in it, and a correction of the path taken by those who went astray in this regard. I have recorded many of these principles at the end of this book.
