Niels Bohr, the most famous Danish scientist, is one of the founding fathers of quantum mechanics. He was the first to introduce the solar model into understanding the atom. However, his personal creativity did not stop at his interpretation of the spectrum of the hydrogen atom and his conception of electron orbits around the atomic nucleus. He left behind a large library in which he discussed many of the ideas and philosophies behind the monumental work known as quantum mechanics. Among these issues is what is known as the Copenhagen interpretation, which we find here, with a large space devoted to discussion, skillfully refuting the reasons that led to it and resolving the conflict with the concepts of classical physics. In browsing this book, we are inspired by the famous sentence of the great scientist Maxwell: “It is useful for researchers in any field to read its history, for science is best understood in its infancy.” Researchers in quantum physics are fortunate to have this legacy left to us by Niels Bohr, which helps us understand many of the experimental and philosophical problems that this science faced in its infancy, a science that is gaining momentum day after day in light of the impressive development in observational technology. And experimentation
