Amerika, Kafka's first novel, is also known as The Man Who Disappeared. He wrote it from 1911 to 1914, and the first edition appeared posthumously in 1927. In various interviews, Kafka often referred to the book as his "American novel," and the first chapter of the novel appeared separately in Kafka's Life in 1913, titled "The Stoker." The novel includes many details about the experiences of Kafka's relatives in America.
