After the events of September 2001, the tone of the renewal discourse began to change, even though it remained within the conditions of the Islamic interior. The fall of Baghdad was not announced in early 2003 until many of the banners of allegiance had fallen and many of those renewal voices had withdrawn from within the Islamic interior to an entirely different camp. We must clearly acknowledge that the situation has evolved, through the efforts of many pens of civil discourse, into painful consequences. Many of those energetic youthful energies that began their journey with a warm language of advocacy have today - unfortunately - adopted explicit secular positions, practiced a practical neutralization of the role of the text in public life, and became preoccupied with opposing religious fatwas and disrupting them, and were drawn into playing the role of court scribes, so they shed their dignity and wrote praise, and became fed up with the language of faith and found it naive, and avoided the metaphysical dimension in interpreting events. Some of them even went so far as to express objections that reflect a deep anxiety about major existential questions, and this group replaced the reference of “evidence” with the reference of “license” wherever it was found, regardless of whether the divine will was achieved or not? It has shifted from being concerned with developing the Islamic discourse to political slander against it, and commenting behind every security event with inflammatory language against everything “Islamic.” It has become fond of unfairly linking violent events to advocacy institutions, and has exaggerated in belittling every heritage achievement, and celebrates Francophone literature in the political reinterpretation of heritage and that it is the result of conflicts of interests and balances of power and is not driven by any moral or religious motives. Some of them have even reached the habit of slandering the narratives of the Prophet’s Sunnah, especially its sources of historical weight, and considering them a source of contemporary social confusion.
