If we want to solve a problem, we must look at its roots. If this problem extends back many years, then let us look at its history and open its records to examine it well. This is what the “author” “Uthman bin Muhammad Al-Khamis” did regarding the problem of our time.. The issue of “Shiites and Sunnis” and the differences or agreements between them and the issues that arise from it, such as what relates to the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), as well as the hadiths transmitted from them and their relationship with each other. He returned to the primary sources of history to try to separate what is true and what is false about a decisive historical era that is the true beginning of everything the Islamic nation suffers from to this day. It is what is called the Great Fitna (trial). However, he did not provide the usual historical narration of this event. Rather, he began in his first chapter of the book by explaining how to read history and the method of verifying this history, to follow it with the historical narration that precedes the period before this stage.. That is, the history of the Caliphate, starting with Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), passing through that great tribulation, and arriving at the pledge of allegiance to Yazid and the departure of Al-Hussein (may Allah be pleased with him) to Kufa. The book (An Era of History) did not stop at this point, but also addressed in the third and fourth chapters of the book what is repeated about the justice of the Companions and the doubts that were said about them and the response to them... and finally the hadiths that the Shiites use as evidence for the right of Imam Ali, may God be pleased with him, to the Imamate, as well as the response to them. The author combined in his book the method that must be followed in reading history and the application in the narration that follows it, and finally refuting the lies with evidence and arguments.
