During his twenty-five-year career with the Investigative Support Unit, Special Agent John Douglas became a legendary law enforcement figure, pursuing some of the most notorious and sadistic serial killers of our time: the man who stalked prostitutes for pleasure in the Alaskan backwoods, the Atlanta Child Killer, and the Green River Killer in Seattle—a case that nearly cost Douglas his life. Following the example of Jack Crawford in the cult film *The Silence of the Lambs*, Douglas encountered, interviewed, and studied dozens of serial killers and serial killers—including Charles Manson, Ted Bundy, and Ed Gein—who dressed himself in the flayed skin of his victims, using his uncanny ability to become both predator and prey simultaneously. Douglas examined each crime scene, mentally replaying the movements of both killer and victim, creating profiles, describing their habits, and anticipating their next moves. Now, in chilling detail, the legendary Mindhunter takes us behind the scenes of some of his most gruesome, astonishing, and challenging cases—and into the dark depths of our worst nightmares. “Douglas, who developed criminal profiling techniques for the FBI, teams up with novelist Olshaker to bring us the full culmination of his 25-year career tracking serial killers.” - Publishers Weekly
