The book covers aspects of Gaza's history, from the beginning of Ottoman rule to the British Mandate. The work was first published in 1943, and in it he says about Gaza: “Its history is glorious, its history. That is because it has withstood the vicissitudes of time in all their types, and the emergencies of events in all their colors. So much so that there has not remained a conqueror among the conquerors, or an invader among the ancient and modern invaders who had a connection with the East. Gaza is an ancient historical city. Indeed, it is one of the oldest cities known to history. It is not the daughter of a century among centuries, or the product of an era among ages, but rather it is the daughter of all past generations, and the companion of all past ages: from the day in which history wrote its first pages to this day. It is a glorious history, its history. That is because it has withstood the vicissitudes of time in all their types, and the emergencies of events in all their colors. So much so that there has not remained a conqueror among the conquerors, or an invader among the ancient and modern invaders who had a connection with the East except that it confronted it: either it defeated it, or it defeated it in the East except that it confronted it: Either he defeated her, or she defeated him.
