Letters of Sorrows is a miraculous book that explains the philosophy of love and beauty. It is a collection of letters that Al-Rafei used to build bridges of his ecstasy for his beloved, to send to his friend Mahmoud Abu Rayya to share his ecstasy with him. Al-Rafei excelled in dividing the philosophy of beauty. In his book, he divided beauty into three categories: beauty that you feel, beauty that you adore, and beauty that you go crazy over. He divided thought into human, natural, and spiritual thought. Al-Rafei's philosophy of love and beauty carries within it a creativity that brings together love in the garments of literature and elevates it to the heights of the soul. It gives it a sacred religious aspect, as it elevates love towards horizons of philosophy in which it mixes religion, literature, and politics when it describes the loving soul. With these letters, it creates a revolution in the traditional meanings known about the philosophy of love, because it places its letters in an image in which the lover, the philosopher, and the contemplator of the aesthetic self are present.
