The book "The Red Clouds" connects two parts: "Leaves of the Rose" and "Letters of Sorrows," to form the climax of Al-Rafei's story with his heart, which longed, then loved, then was afflicted with estrangement. In this part of his story, Al-Rafei reveals the contrast between the states of lovers during union and after estrangement, emphasizing that no feud is more intense and violent than that of two lovers who hate each other. In this book, Al-Rafei depicts the effect of the hatred that arises on what has sprouted and flourished during union. Hatred then burns away every hope that love nurtured, and the bitterness of pain prevails, overpowering the sweetness of memory, as if it had never existed. Al-Rafei also points out that estrangement is born from accusation, suspicion, and deception in love, then moves on to discuss the philosophy of hatred, the heart's recklessness, and the meanness of women. Al-Rafei depicted through his ordeal the state of the human heart that falls captive to love without hope, neither of union nor of healing, and has no choice but to cry out with all the pain of the soul within it, warning of a weak hatred that will never be fulfilled towards the beloved.
