“The Abridged Authentic Collection of Narrations from the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, his Sunnah, and his life,” commonly known as “Sahih al-Bukhari,” is the most prominent book of prophetic hadith among Sunni Muslims. It was compiled by Imam Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Bukhari, who spent sixteen years editing it, selecting its hadiths from six hundred thousand he had collected. The book holds a prominent position among Sunnis, as it is one of the six canonical hadith collections considered primary sources of hadith. It is the first book compiled solely on authentic hadith and is considered by them to be the most authentic book after the Holy Quran.
