Abridged Sahih al-Bukhari

The book's source is Sahih al-Bukhari, which contains 9,082 narrations and holds a prominent position among Sunni Muslims, most of whom consider it the most authentic book after the Quran. Among the narrations mentioned are hadiths that do not meet al-Bukhari's criteria, known as Mu'allaqat (suspended narrations). These are narrations that al-Bukhari included to illustrate supporting narrations and variations in chains of transmission, as well as repeated hadiths. The abridger omitted these narrations in his abridgment, limiting himself to the most complete version of the hadith and removing its chains of transmission, focusing solely on the Companion. His aim was to facilitate access to the hadiths in Sahih al-Bukhari. The book, al-Tajrid al-Sarih, contains 2,254 hadiths in its most comprehensive edition, which is less than the number of non-repeated hadiths in Sahih al-Bukhari, which is 2,602.
