When a prominent Islamic speaker says: "We want Sharia law implemented in our country," the immediate objections that come to mind are Islamic punishments, such as flogging and stoning adulterers, amputating the hand of a thief, killing a murderer, flogging alcohol drinkers, and other punishments. Stoning, the stoning of married adulterers, both men and women, is a punishment that varies in its nature, implementation, and proof. We do not find it explicitly or implicitly in the Holy Quran. Rather, it is uniquely legislated in the Sunnah, and all jurists and scholars agree on the necessity of implementing the Sunnah. However, jurists differ on the scope and degree of implementation, each according to their own classification, understanding of its texts, and their own conditions for accepting and rejecting it. In this book, the author addresses numerous fundamentalist and jurisprudential topics, such as: How is a hadd established? Is it sufficient for a command to be included in the Sunnah for the punishment to be a hadd? He also addresses the issue of the Sunnah and legislation in general, and whether a command in the Sunnah is obligatory or not? What are the criteria for this? The issue of whether or not abrogated verses exist? The issue of tawatur (repeated narrations), its degrees, its ruling, its types, and the ruling on denying it; and the issue of chastity, which is the most important condition for those who say that adultery should be punished by stoning.
