These letters were not originally written with the intention of publication, unlike some famous literary correspondences we have. Their publication was decided after Abdul Rahman's death, thanks to the commendable initiative of Suad Qawadri Munif and Marwan. I have no doubt that Abdul Rahman would have agreed if asked. These correspondences tell a story of friendship, a friendship that preceded the start of the exchange. In addition to friendship, these letters offer rare insights into the process of literary and artistic production and the relationship between them. The two friends fall silent, and their correspondence ceases for months during the American invasion of Iraq. Abdul Rahman breaks the silence, explaining the reason: sorrow and frustration. Abdul Rahman holds on to the popular wisdom, "If it doesn't break, it won't rebuild." Marwan takes strength from Sa'dallah Wannous's words, "We have been condemned to hope." You may return most new, unopened items within 14 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).
