Stories of the Qur'an

It is a habit of the soul and the innate nature to be imbued with the brilliance of stories and news, to be invigorated by the sight of ruins and traces, and to instill in the hearts of living chastity and consideration. Therefore, one of the greatest types of Qur’anic discourse and the most sublime types of Qur’anic meanings is what the Qur’an conveys through stories and news. The Qur’an came as a narrator: “Indeed, this Qur’an relates to the Children of Israel most of that over which they differ.” And God commanded His Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, “So relate the stories that perhaps they will reflect.”

Since the story has a great impact on the hearts, some of the predecessors said, “Stories are soldiers of God,” meaning that they affect the hearts and give the souls something that cannot be achieved through direct guidance that was not real. If you want truthful news, honest expression, and beautiful lessons, then make the Qur’an your window onto the ruins of homes, to look at vanished civilizations, nations, and centuries whose actions the Qur’an immortalized, and recorded throughout time what happened to them. Thus, the Qur’an’s mention of them is a lesson: “There was certainly in their stories a lesson for those of understanding. It was not a fabricated narrative, but a confirmation of what was before it and a detailed explanation of all things and a guidance and mercy for a people who believe.”
