In the name of God, the most gracious, the most merciful

Praise be to God, who has granted understanding to whomever He wills of His servants in His religion, and has guided those who obey Him to worship and to the right path. May blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, the guide to the path of righteousness, and upon his family.

And his glorious companions, and upon those who follow them in righteousness, eternal and continuous prayers until the Day of Resurrection.

Now then

It is not hidden from the people of knowledge that among the ways to acquire jurisprudence are:

Reading the commentaries and long books that focus on clarifying texts, mentioning evidence, explaining differences, adding to a number of issues, mentioning disagreements, and other things found in them. However, among these blessed commentaries that have become famous and have been widely beneficial is the book Al-Rawd Al-Murabba’, a commentary on Mukhtasar Al-Muqni’, known as Zad Al-Mustaqni’. Students of knowledge have greatly desired it, and they have strived to take what is in it with the utmost diligence and effort, because it is a brief, delicate commentary that includes most of the important matters and surpasses many of the long books. Therefore, Allah has benefited from it as He has benefited from its original, which students of knowledge have devoted themselves to memorizing and explaining. Because of the extreme importance of this commentary, many works have been done on it, including verification, explanation, annotation, graduation, and other things.

Among these useful works was that done by His Eminence Sheikh Prof. Dr. Ahmed bin Muhammad Al-Khalil, who wrote a useful commentary on this book, in which he took care to...

By clarifying the issues, describing them, mentioning evidence from texts and narrations, mentioning the disagreement, discussing opinions, weighing them, and transmitting useful quotations from the books of the companions and the books of investigators such as Sheikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, as well as what he apparently cared about mentioning the jurisprudential principles and clarifications for a number of problematic issues, and transmitting and benefiting from contemporary books and various sources, which enriched the book and made it full of benefits, pearls, anecdotes and valuables. Allah has blessed me with reading the first volume in full, so I read it in several sessions and found it useful. The author, may Allah guide him, has demonstrated his scholarly personality in it. We ask Allah that the other volumes be in this manner. He sent me a request for praise, and I responded to him, hoping to share in the reward and for the benefit to be widespread. I ask Allah to forgive us, our parents, our sheikhs and all Muslims. May Allah’s prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and all his companions.
