Explanation of Al-Mutanabbi's Diwan

This commentary is a literary treasure and a heritage document that documents the precious poetic necklace left for us by the nightingale of eloquent Arabic poetry in the Levant, “Al-Mutanabbi.” It is a comprehensive commentary in which the writer included all the interpretations of commentators, both ancient and modern, and the sayings of critics, both those who were biased towards him and those who were biased against him. Al-Barquqi provided many examples, similarities, and analogies that support the value of this commentary, out of his belief in the stature and value of Al-Mutanabbi. The writer elaborated on Al-Mutanabbi’s biography, especially what was helpful in knowing the circumstances and occasions that contributed to the birth of this unique poet’s poetry. He attached to this commentary biographies of Al-Mutanabbi’s commentators who were mentioned in this commentary. To complete the benefit, the writer collected the proverbs and wisdom that Al-Mutanabbi said, and adorned this work with them. This is not surprising, as it is an explanation in which all the explanations converged after some refinement and purification. It came in detail for everything that Al-Mutanabbi said in every eloquent verse of poetry.
