Ahkam al-Ahkam Explanation of Umdat al-Ahkam

Ibn Daqiq's commentary on the book "Umdat al-Ahkam" (The Pillar of Rulings) by Sheikh Abdul-Ghani al-Maqdisi, who collected the hadiths on rulings from the Sahihs of al-Bukhari and Muslim and arranged them according to the well-known chapters of jurisprudence, to serve as a foundation for the jurist and the legal theorist in understanding the evidence for rulings. Ibn Daqiq's commentary (Ihkam al-Ahkam) is considered a concise and comprehensive commentary, in which he explains unfamiliar terms, sometimes mentions the biography of the companion who narrated the hadith, then extracts the jurisprudential rulings, mentioning the schools of thought of the major imams, and perhaps stating his own jurisprudential opinion. He then expands on this and explains how the hadith indicates a ruling through jurisprudential discussions that draw heavily on the science of jurisprudence.
