Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, and may God’s prayers and peace be upon His servant and trustworthy Messenger, who said: “Whoever God intends good for, He grants him understanding of the religion,” and upon his pure and righteous family and companions.
And further, our Sheikh, the scholar Abd al-Rahman ibn Nasir al-Sa’di, was one of those whom Allah granted understanding of the religion, to the point that it became his main concern for most of his time, learning, teaching, studying, instructing, and writing. Among his most important works on jurisprudence is the book: Manhaj al-Salikeen wa Tawdih al-Fiqh fi al-Din, this book is concise in wording but comprehensive in meaning. He took care of it before writing it, and he paid attention to it while writing it, and he admired it after writing it, so he began to praise it to his students, encouraging them to turn to it, in memorization, study, learning, and teaching. He wrote me a letter about it dated: 13 Muharram 1360 AH, and he sent it to me in: Abu Arish when I was a judge there, and he said in it: We have abridged it so that it is shorter than all the abridgements that you know, such as: Mukhtasar al-Muqni’, and: al-Umda, and the shortest of the abridgements, smaller than all of them, limiting it to what is needed in each chapter, and with this it is clear and includes evidence.
...etc. From the useful answers, pp. 90, 91.
Among its advantages: it is limited to the issues that occur frequently and that people need, and it pays attention to the evidence without going into too much detail. Rather, it may even make the issue the text of the hadith mentioned in it, so it is the source of evidence and the one used as evidence. In short, the book’s content is more eloquent than its appearance. The book has been printed several times, and not every copy is free of errors, deficiencies, and errors in presentation and delay.
This is why Professor Muhammad bin Abdul Aziz Al-Khudairi, a lecturer at the College of Education in Riyadh, Department of Qur’anic Studies, took the initiative to take care of it, print it, and publish it after comparing it with two handwritten copies, one of which was a photocopied copy of the author’s handwriting. This edition is one of the most authentic copies of this book, with its distinguished quality of printing, letters, paper, and binding, decorated with punctuation marks, stopping and starting, division, attributing Qur’anic verses, grading Prophetic hadiths, explaining some obscure words, and diacritical marking them, with numbering its issues, and starting each issue at the beginning of the line. To highlight it, and to facilitate its access, and to number it in consecutive numbers, reaching 679, he also transferred the preferences of our Sheikh from his other books, whether they were additional to what is in this book, or clarification, or a correction to it, so he served the book, its author, and its readers with this deed, and he deserved the reward and recompense, both immediate and future, God willing. In the hadith: “Indeed, God admits three into Paradise because of a single arrow: its maker, its archer, and the one who supplies it with it.” Narrated by Abu Dawud, Al-Tirmidhi, and others. Therefore, I advise my brothers and student sons to pay attention to it and memorize it by heart, because it is considered the essence of the essence, and success comes from God.
May God bless our Prophet Muhammad, his family and companions.
He said that: The poor one before God
