Renowned Bitcoin advocate and author, Dr. Saif El-Din Ammous, in his book, The Fiat Standard (Government Money), which can be considered an extension of his previous book, The Bitcoin Standard, a decentralized alternative to central banking. This book was the first academic book to address the economics of Bitcoin and, published in more than twenty languages, discusses Bitcoin from an economic perspective. This book led Michael Saylor, CEO of MicroStrategy, to purchase Bitcoin after reading it. This prompted his company to secure its wealth using Bitcoin instead of other assets that might have seemed more logical options, such as gold. In his book, The Government Money Standard, Saif El-Din delves into the reasons for the existence of the current financial system, explaining its origins and evolution in light of the economic forces and motivations over the past hundred years. He then goes on to explain the technological techniques used by this system and how banks operate within it by issuing debt for currencies they do not own, concluding with the solution represented by Bitcoin to overcome the failure of this financial system, as the author says.
