Memoirs are a beautiful and engaging genre of fiction, presenting facts with honesty and sincerity. Arabic literature has known many biographers who have preserved the history of the most famous figures in politics, thought, science and literature. Among the many memoirs that Dar Al Mada has been keen to publish are those of the writer and author Balqis Sharara, which she titled "Thus the Days Passed." In them, she recounts her early life in the holy city of Najaf, where she was born into a family interested in literature and culture. Her father, Mohammed Sharara, was one of the most prominent cultural and intellectual figures in Iraq in the thirties and forties of the last century. These memoirs are not the first experience of the writer Balqis Sharara in biographical literature. She previously published, in collaboration with her husband, the great architect Rifaat Chadirji, the book "A Wall Between Two Darknesses" and her important book "The Kitchen and Its Role in Human Civilization." She also published an introduction to the novel "If the Days Darken" about Sharara's life.
In the pages of these memoirs, we read about the most important events that Iraq has witnessed over the past eight decades, and we also read a description of the cultural situation that Iraq has experienced over the past decades.
