He was severely seasick, and lost his balance. The ship made a sudden movement that threw him over the bulkhead, until he came to rest against the humped tip of the ship. But a very strong gray wave emerged from the fog and carried him away from the ship. At that moment, he could no longer see anything and fainted. As soon as he opened his eyes, he realized that he was floating on the surface of the water, and the waves were running around him like hills of silver. He found himself lying in a boat filled with a large number of gray fish, and he was lying on top of them. The boat was being rowed by a man whose face he could not see, only his broad shoulders and his blue woolen jacket. Where would this man lead him? To safety or to a frightening adventure he had never experienced?
