Italian Ambassador Pietro Corani describes diplomacy as a first-class seat on the stage of life. This description is true when the diplomat is a spectator, observing events unfold and witnessing history being made. However, in the life of a diplomat, there are times when he is the protagonist, or the subject of the story. This time, he finds himself not in a comfortable first-class seat, but at the center of the stage, with the spotlight on him and all eyes fixed on him.

This book contains a collection of stories that were performed on the stage of life. The characters were diplomats whom fate willed to emerge from the ranks of the spectators, to that stage, to ascend its stage, and to play the roles that fate had chosen for them:
