

Gone with the Wind is a novel by American author Margaret Mitchell, published in 1936. It is her only novel, and she began writing it after suffering from an illness that forced her to stay indoors for long periods. The novel gained widespread popularity, and Mitchell won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1937. It was adapted into an American film in 1939. Gone with the Wind is the only novel Mitchell published during her lifetime.
