Explanation of the Principles of the Sunnah by Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal

The book "Usul al-Sunnah" (Principles of the Sunnah) is considered important for several reasons: 1- Its author is Imam Ahmad, the Imam of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah (the People of the Sunnah and the Community). 2- It establishes the general principles and fundamental rules that govern the methodology of the Salaf (the early generations of Muslims) and distinguish it from the methodology of the innovators. 3- It clarifies the fundamental tenets of the creed of the saved sect, Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah, the creed of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions. Scholars have paid close attention to it, to the point that Judge Abu Ya'la (may Allah have mercy on him) said, "If one were to travel to China in search of it, it would be a small price to pay." On this page is a photocopy of the commentary by Sheikh Ibn Jibreen (may Allah have mercy on him). It was corrected, its hadiths were authenticated, and annotated by Ali ibn Husayn Abu Lawz.
