To the thoughtful youth who have grasped the essence of living literature, understood its value, and its impact on revitalizing souls and uplifting nations.

To the thoughtful youth who have explored Western literatures, captivated by their diverse melodies and awestruck by their vast, surging ocean of life's feelings, emotions, and magnificent ideals. And who, upon turning to Arabic literatures, found their hearts constricted by the confusion and poor selection within them, causing them to turn away in disdain and resentment—and they have some excuse—and to eagerly embrace Western literature, in which they found a chord for every emotion, whose melodies enchanted them, filled the void in their souls, and elevated them to the highest realm they aspired to.

To this group of young people, I present this book, which I consider a masterpiece of high literature. I dare to claim—not out of enthusiasm for our language, nor fanaticism for our literature, nor exaggeration in my assertion—that it is no less significant than the greatest work produced by the most profound Western thinker.
