Sahih Muslim is one of the most important books of Prophetic Hadith for Sunni Muslims. They consider it the third most authentic book after the Holy Quran and Sahih al-Bukhari. Sahih Muslim is considered one of the comprehensive books, as it contains all chapters of Hadith, including beliefs, rulings, manners, interpretation, history, virtues, asceticism, and more. It was compiled by Abul-Husayn Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj al-Qushayri al-Naysaburi, who sought to only narrate authentic hadiths that scholars and hadith specialists agreed upon. He confined himself to narrating the Marfu' (elevated) hadiths and avoided narrating Mu'allaqat (suspended) and Mawqufat (stopped) hadiths, as well as the sayings and jurisprudential opinions of scholars, except rarely. He spent about fifteen years collecting and compiling it, and he gathered more than three thousand hadiths (excluding repetitions), selected from three hundred thousand hadiths in his memory.
